HIV Basics Course for NursesDate:
09/2005 DescriptionThis is a comprehensive four day course designed to train nurses with no previous experience in working with HIV-positive patients. Topics include basic epidemiology and pathogenesis of HIV, infection control practices, basic information about opportunistic infections, symptom management and palliative care, introduction to antiretroviral therapy and adherence, maternal and child considerations, and the role of the nurse in patient care. The curriculum includes a facilitator's guide, a participant handbook, and an accompanying slide set for use during the course. Activities, role plays, and worksheets/handouts are included.
